How to care for your Dea Kudibal silksUpdated 3 hours ago
Silk is a luxurious and delicate natural fabric that requires gentle care to preserve its beautiful sheen, softness and quality.
Washing Silk
Silk should generally be washed by hand to maintain its natural sheen and softness.
Use lukewarm water and add a mild liquid detergent specifically formulated for silk, without enzymes. We recommend using Classic Silk Wash, which is suitable for delicate fabrics. Detergents containing enzymes can damage the silk fibres, causing the fabric to lose its natural sheen and develop a dull, whitish appearance.
Submerge the garment in the water and gently move it around for a few minutes to ensure even cleaning. Avoid rubbing or wringing the fabric, as this can damage the delicate fibres. Do not leave the garment to soak. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until all detergent residue has been removed.
Drying Silk
After washing, gently press out any excess water without wringing the garment. Lay it flat on a clean, dry towel and carefully roll up the towel to absorb the remaining moisture.
Avoid stretching or twisting the fabric. Gently reshape the garment and leave it to dry flat on a drying rack or a clean towel, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, as these can weaken the delicate silk fibres.
Ironing and Steaming Silk
Silk can be gently smoothed using an iron or a steamer.
We recommend using a steamer, as the steam gently removes creases and wrinkles without direct contact with the fabric. This reduces the risk of heat damage while helping to preserve the silk's soft texture and natural drape.
If you prefer to use an iron, select a low-heat or silk setting. We recommend ironing the garment inside out, placing a clean cloth between the iron and the fabric to protect delicate prints and details.
